Skunk Motel is an alternative punk/grunge band from Halifax. Within their first year as a group, Skunk Motel has played showcases at Nova Scotia Music Week 2022, the Halifax Pride Queer Music Fest, and the East Coast Music Awards on both the Breakout and the Loud Stage. The band has been playing shows in Halifax and surrounding Nova Scotian cities and has sold-out venues like The Seahorse Tavern (300 capacity) The Steel City (210 capacity) and Gus’ Pub (150 capacity).

While they have quickly taken the Halifax Music Scene captive, each member of Skunk Motel has been active and involved in a number of projects and organizations in the NS music community. The four have managed to find one another - through experiences, both varied, and shared - to form an enigmatic group who weather the storm under an umbrella of shared values.

Kate Bo is a celebrated guitar player who has been playing venue and festival stages long before joining Skunk Motel. She has worked with artists such as Loviet, Braden Lam, T Thomason, Terra Spencer, and more.  Sara Eve is an experienced musician who has toured both nationally and abroad with Willie Stratton, and The Surfrajettes. Singer Sarah Ellen Morrison has been a sought-after vocalist in the Halifax community since migrating here from Cape Breton Island in 2017. Sarah founded her six-piece, soulful, name-sake who have performed at events like Elora Riverfest and TD’s Halifax Jazz Festival. Maya Taraschi leads Skunk Motel from behind the kit. Maya got started in the Halifax music scene through the NSCC Music Arts Program before reverse engineering her knowledge and writing the songs that ultimately led to the birth of Skunk Motel.
